For teens, pimples are a fact of life. But some young people previously suffer more than others. Many girls who developed severe acne in their teens first had mild outbreaks as early as age 9 to 10, more than two years before the start of menstruation. What can parents learn from this? Early intervention might help prevent a more serious condition. If your preteen isn’t responding to over the counter medications or her acne is getting worse, don’t assume it’s going to go away. Make an appointment with your family doctor or dermatologist.
