Spend weekends away from the mall.
Go to the malls on weekends and you’ll most likely see them packed with families window-shopping or lunching at the food court.
Gone are the days when family weekend outings meant a picnic lunch at the Park or an afternoon in some Carnival Place. Families these days opt to spend their time whiling away in the air-conditioned comfort of malls. If you are looking for an alternative to your weekends, there are still a lot of other things you can do as a family. None of these activities cost much money and you don’t have to travel far to experience them. There are some suggestions:
HAVE A BREAK, HAVE A PICNIC. Give a new meaning to “eating out” by really eating out in the open. If you live in the Quezon City are, the Sunken Garden and the Lagoon in the University of the Philippines (UP Diliman are great places for picnic. The trees surrounding the areas provide ample shade and the quiet atmosphere is most conductive for rest and relaxation! The Marikina River Park is another interesting venue. Your kids will enjoy the novelty of picnicking by the river and watching the fishes swim by. -Leah Mendoza
