Good morning everyone. I was looking for a picture in one of the magazine, when I came across with the article of Veronica C. Uy about her smart parenting. It’s a nice one. And I’m sharing this to you to have some tips for your toddlers.
No statistics are yet available on the number of accidents or injuries that occur in playgrounds in the Philippines. Maybe this is because we actually lack proper play areas. Most of injuries that occur in the playgrounds of Luneta Park, which his office maintains, are of the knee-scrapes variety; he remembers are caused by lack of adult supervision.
The lack of data cannot allay a parent’s concern for her children’s safety in play areas, including those in schools, fast-food joints, and malls. Here are some danger zones:
■ Swings are a common source of accidents, and not just because of falls and be knocked unconscious.
■ Some children climb the slides themselves, not the stairs meant for getting up on them. They can slip and tumble down, endangering themselves and the other children using the slide. Kids also jump up and down the top of slides, they can fall at least four feet to the ground.
