Family Life and Parenting

November 16, 2008

“There is no place like home”…..  Love is the foundation of any marriage and family.  Without love the marriage and the family become burdensome and may even collapse.  The husband and wife’s love for each other  bear fruit of the self-giving of both spouse.

Parents create that homey atmosphere of love, generosity, care, understanding, acceptance and security.  They are teachers of love and virtue, and set the basic and positive tone, where children learn and cultivate the values necessary for life.  Schools do not replace the parents’ major role in the upbringing of the children.  The school merely complements; only with difficulty can it reverse what is taught in the home.

The father is the head of the family while the mother is the heart.  Both complement each other and are important, but it is the woman who sets that positive atmosphere in the home by giving here time and attention to the children as well as to the smooth and professional functioning of the house.  With her loving heart, she summons that gentle strength needed in the education of the children, making sure that they grow up with the qualities and virtues that will make them assets to society.
